SHOOTING YOURSELF IN THE FOOT?

As if life wasn’t tough enough and usually pretty stressed,
    days hardly full of fun or play-- rather mostly trials and tests--
         do you, too often, follow a mindless compulsion to put
               actions first, forget to think, and shoot yourself in the foot?

It’s not as if you haven’t learned that consequences stem
    from reactive, impulsive actions which evolve without a plan;
         and, yet, you’ll wince then simply shrug as new turmoil takes root.
               Does it bother you that, so often, you’ve shot yourself in the foot?

Isn’t it a shame and waste of precious perishable time
    to, so often, be treading water without logic, reason or rhyme?
         Couldn’t you, after two backsteps, move forward three--- then look
               and think, for just a second, to avoid that shot at the foot?

Just remove the ammo from your gun, the temptation to jump first.
    Remember back to childhood, when you had a natural thirst

for scheming before taking a step--- remember the courage it took?
               You’ll find it easier getting thru life without shooting yourself in the foot.
